The short version

Spellosion has no accounts and collects no personal information. Your game progress stays in your own browser. A few third-party services are involved in online play, tips and (when enabled) advertising, described below.

What stays in your browser

The game uses your browser's local storage to remember a saved game, your colorblind-colors choice, and whether you have dismissed the beginner tips (keys: spellosion_save_v1, lex_cb, lex_plays). This data never leaves your device unless you play online, when moves are sent to your opponent. You can clear it any time in your browser settings.

Online play

To find your friend by game code, the game loads the open-source PeerJS library from a public CDN and uses the free PeerJS public connection service. To connect your devices directly it uses public STUN servers (Google and Cloudflare) and, where a direct connection is not possible, may use a third-party TURN relay service. These services, and your opponent, can see your IP address while you connect. Moves travel directly between devices (or through the relay, encrypted). There is no chat and we do not store game data on our servers. Those services have their own privacy policies.

Hosting

The site is served by a web host and content delivery network that may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and operations.

Tips

If a support link is shown, it takes you to a third-party payment service (for example Ko-fi). Tips are voluntary. We never see your payment details; the payment service handles them under its own terms and privacy policy.

Advertising

If advertising is enabled on this site, it is provided by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent message before personalized ads can be served. Spellosion is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
